# Design Production Specialist

### Job Description

Some people love pitching the big idea. You love the moment after the idea is approved, when it has to become real. You take a design concept and turn it into the file, the finish schedule, and the spec sheet the whole team can build from, and you make sure every number, finish code, and dimension is right before it leaves your desk.

You do your best work with headphones on and a clear queue in front of you. You like a steady rhythm, a clean folder structure, and the quiet satisfaction of a spec package with zero errors. You don’t need to set the direction; you’d rather be the reason it gets executed perfectly. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

**Why This Role Matters**

Kay-Twelve is redefining our industry as the first Learning Space Integrator (LSI), using a Radically Student Centered (RSC) process to design environments that positively impact students and educators. Our goal is to reach 10,000,000 of them by 2030. Every classroom we deliver depends on documentation that procurement and installation can trust completely. That trust starts with this seat.

**What You’ll Do**

- Receive design direction, guiding principles, and spatial strategy from the Design Solutions Manager, and turn it into accurate production work.
- Build design mockups and product descriptions that faithfully reflect the approved design intent.
- Prepare furniture and materials detailing, including finishes and specifications.
- Own the design software files: accurate, current, organized, and ready for handoff.
- Support specification review and help develop installation documents for each project.
- Source furniture, fixtures, and decor that match the concept and client requirements, for the Design Solutions Manager’s approval.
- Flag questions or design conflicts to the Design Solutions Manager rather than resolving them independently.
- Keep deliverables aligned with the project schedule and milestone deadlines.
- Support installation, including occasional site visits, so final execution matches design intent.
- Stay current on products and materials in furniture, fabrics, and finishes.

**What Success Looks Like**

- Scorecard KPI: Design Deliverables On Time. Selections and specifications are complete by the deadline the Design Solutions Manager sets.
- Mockups and product descriptions accurately reflect the approved design intent.
- Design files are complete and organized, so procurement and installation never have to guess.

**You’ll Thrive Here If You**

- Feel a real sense of pride when work is done exactly right, even if no one notices until it’s installed.
- Prefer a clear, repeatable workflow and enjoy refining it over time.
- Work comfortably from someone else’s direction and would rather execute well than debate the concept.
- Think practically: you trust proven products and specs that work in the real world.
- Communicate clearly and purposefully, especially in writing, and speak up when something doesn’t add up.
- Live our values: Be the Change, You Belong Here, Listen. Care. Follow-Through, and LFG!

**Requirements**

- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, or equivalent portfolio experience.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar design software.
- Strong knowledge of furniture, fabrics, finishes, and materials.
- Comfort working within budget constraints set by the Design Solutions Manager.
- Ability to sit, stand, and use hands for extended periods, primarily at a computer workstation, with occasional travel to client or job sites for field verification and installation support.

**Preferred**

- One to three years of experience in interior design, drafting, or design production.
- Professional licensure is not required for this role.

Responsibilities may evolve as Kay-Twelve’s process does; other job-related duties may be assigned.
