# Learning Strategist

### Job Description

*You’re the person a district turns to when they need someone who can translate ‘this is how kids actually learn here’ into a plan a design team can build. You’d rather sharpen someone else’s vision than chase your own, and you know when to lean in and when to let the Project Manager run the room. If educational philosophy means more to you as something you put into practice than something you write about, keep reading. This is what it looks like to be the Learning Strategist at Kay-Twelve.*

**Qualifications (Who)**

This is Kay-Twelve’s subject-matter expert in educational philosophy and practice – someone who is brought into a project at the Project Manager’s direction to strengthen Collaborate-stage discovery, not someone who runs Collaborate independently. He or she has exceptional facilitation and listening skills, able to draw out a district’s real instructional intent rather than just their stated preferences, and is comfortable operating as a supporting specialist who defers project ownership to the PM.

He or she partners with the PM to sharpen the vision, guiding principles, and instructional-model alignment that Collaborate is meant to produce, translating how students are expected to learn in the space into pedagogical and design terms the Design Solutions Manager can execute against. This person brings deep knowledge of pedagogy and instructional models, strong presentation and workshop-facilitation skills, and the empathy and cultural fluency to work across diverse school communities.

Beyond individual projects, this person owns Kay-Twelve’s Legacy work – staff professional development, internal change management, and post-completion legacy workshops that keep Kay-Twelve’s Radically Student Centered (RSC) approach current. Organized and a genuine listener above all, this person lives Kay-Twelve’s core values – Be the Change, You Belong Here, Listen. Care. Follow-Through, and LFG! – and maintains consistent, positive communication with the PM, Education Market Leader, and client stakeholders on every project where engaged.

**Responsibilities (What)**

The Learning Strategist’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

**Scorecard KPI:**This seat’s KPI is paused until staffed. Once filled, performance will be measured against instructional-model alignment carried cleanly from Collaborate into Design.

1. Engage on a project only at the PM’s direction, at an engagement level the PM sets based on client need, scope, and timeline.
2. Lead deep-dive educational discovery conversations and facilitate Collaborate-stage alignment sessions directly with client stakeholders when brought in, while the PM remains the client’s point of contact for any resulting commitments.
3. Help define project direction, guiding principles, scope, and success criteria prior to execution.
4. Translate how students are expected to learn in the space into pedagogical and design terms for the Design Solutions Manager.
5. Document assumptions and agreed-upon success criteria alongside the PM before transition to Design.
6. Partner with the PM to review alignment of key milestones with the original vision and guiding principles during Design and Implementation.
7. Own the quality and integrity of the educational strategy within a project, and make recommendations on instructional alignment from that expertise; when a recommendation would change project scope, budget, schedule, or another Collaborate-stage commitment, the PM makes the final call, informed by the Learning Strategist’s recommendation.
8. Serve as the subject-matter authority on educational strategy for the PM and Education Market Leader, while the PM retains final decision authority on any resulting scope, budget, or schedule impact.
9. Own staff professional development programming tied to Kay-Twelve’s RSC methodology.
10. Lead internal change-management efforts as processes evolve.
11. Design and deliver post-completion legacy workshops that help client districts realize lasting value from a finished learning space.
12. Partner with the PM and Education Market Leader to support a consistent, aligned client experience when engaged on a project.
13. Build trust with clients by ensuring continuity between vision, scope, and project intent.

**What Success Looks Like:**

- The district’s instructional vision is clearly and accurately reflected in the project’s guiding principles.
- The PM and Design Solutions Manager have what they need to carry that vision into Design without re-litigating it.
- Professional development and legacy workshop content stays current with Kay-Twelve’s RSC approach and industry practice.

**Specifications (Ticket)**

These responsibilities apply when this seat is engaged on a project or leading Legacy work; employees are expected to take on other job-related duties as assigned.

**Required**

- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Leadership, or a related field
- Significant K-12 (or higher-education, as applicable) instructional or curriculum leadership experience
- Deep knowledge of pedagogy, instructional models, and their translation into physical space
- Familiarity with Kay-Twelve’s Radically Student Centered (RSC) methodology
- Comfortable with company project management and CRM software to keep discovery notes usable by the PM and Design Solutions Manager
- Ability to sit, stand, and use hands for extended periods, primarily in an office or workshop-facilitation setting, with occasional travel to client sites and schools for discovery sessions, workshops, and legacy follow-up visits

**Preferred**

- Familiarity with learning-space design, educational planning, or facilities visioning
- ALEP – Accredited Learning Environments Planner Certification (A4LE)

**Why Work for Kay-Twelve (Why)**
